Last year, based on its commitment to reporting on all aspects of healthcare, through a partnership with the global market research firm Statista Inc., Newsweek compiled it’s first list of America’s Best Addiction Treatment Centers. With over 20 million Americans struggling with addiction, alcoholism, and substance use disorder, Newsweek believed such an objective list may aid individuals, families, and loved ones in finding valuable help. Maryland Addiction Recovery Center was honored to have made the list of Maryland facilities, with a score of 78.5%

Just released by Newsweek on August 18th, we are proud to say that for the second straight year, Maryland Addiction Recovery Center once again made the list. Newsweek’s list of Americans Best Addiction Treatment Centers 2021 again featured MARC on the Maryland list, this time with an improved score of 88.5%!

Compiled in partnership with Statista Inc., America’s Best Addiction Treatment Centers 2021 highlights the country’s best addiction treatment and rehab facilities based on peer recommendations, quality, and accreditations relative to in-state competition. The list was compiled through the 25 states in the country with the highest number of rehabs and addiction treatment facilities, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA.) In total, 300 addiction treatment centers located in those 25 states were awarded, based on the results compiled by Statista, Inc. Additionally, the list includes facilities that offer only inpatient treatment, residential drug treatment, or long-term extended care. Short-term stand-alone detoxes, short-term treatment facilities, and outpatient treatment programs with excluded from Newsweek’s survey and results.

To compile data and achieve the results of the survey, Statista invited thousands of medical experts and behavioral health professionals to an online peer-to-peer survey. This included medical doctors and psychiatrists, therapists, counselors, administrative and direct service staff working in addiction treatment facilities, and other professionals. The survey provided quality control checks, ensuring there was no self-recommending of facilities. The results were created by the scores addiction treatment centers received in two areas: a reputation score based on two subscores for recommendation and quality, and an accreditation score.  According to Newsweek, the overall rating that an addiction treatment facility received on the list is the weighted average of the overall reputation score and the accreditation score.

Maryland Addiction Recovery Center’s score of 88.5% was in close proximity to many other nationally recognized rehabs and addiction treatment centers, including Maryland neighbor Ashley Addiction Treatment (90.3%), Caron Treatment Centers in Pennsylvania (88.4%), Sierra Tucson in Arizona (89.3%), McLean Hospital’s Fernside program in Massachusetts (92.6%), and Hazelden Betty Ford in Minnesota (95.1%)
