MARC partners with Capital Services to provide “Issues with Drugs in the Workplace” Seminar to local Businesses, Employers and HR Professionals

It is no secret that America’s addiction epidemic is having a terrible impact on individuals, families and communities at large. However, a major negative impact of addiction is being felt by our businesses and on the U.S. economy as a whole. Businesses are feeling the impact of addiction on their bottom line and in their workforce productivity. A recent survey released by the National Safety Council concluded that 70% of United States employers are feeling a direct impact of just prescription drug misuse, not to mention the overall impact of addiction as a whole on the workforce.

Due to these issues there is clearly a need for business owners, employers, management teams and Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) to be educated on addiction and how they can best help their workforce deal with ongoing addiction and mental health issues. Therefore, Maryland Addiction Recovery Center is happy to partner with local business consulting firm Capital Services Inc. to offer the upcoming event “Issues with Drugs in the Workplace,” taking place on Thursday, September 14th, 2017 at the conference center at Sheppard Pratt.

This event will take place from 8:00am to 12:00pm and feature three prominent speakers on the topic. The event will feature Pat Isaac, CEO of Capital Services, Mike Gimbel, former Baltimore County “drug czar” and current treatment consultant with Maryland Addiction Recovery Center, and Attorney Cheryl Brown of the law practice Davis, Agnor, Rapaport and Shalny.

The event will educate attendees on the overall impact that addiction is having on the workplace, while taking a specific look at the current opioid crisis. Additionally, education will be provided regarding how employers can be prepare for the increase of medical and legal marijuana in regards to the current regulatory climate, what is the best practices in terms of drug testing employees, creating best practices for drug policy in the workplace, best HR approaches to find employees in need appropriate and quality help and resources and how to address and mitigate financial impacts on the business in regards to addiction.
