We are excited to welcome clinician Laurie Wollman, LCPC, BC-TMH, to the staff as the new Clinical Director of Maryland Addiction Recovery Center. A Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), a LCPC Board Approved Supervisor, and a Board Certified Tele-mental Health professional, Laurie joins the MARC team with over sixteen years’ experience in the behavioral healthcare field.

A graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, Laurie continued her education, receiving a Master of Science in Psychiatric Rehabilitation from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 2003. Additionally, she received a Certificate of Advanced Study in 2008 from Towson University.

Laurie began her career in the behavioral healthcare field as a program director, supervising residential homes throughout Maryland that supported children with mental health disorders. Continuing her work with children and adolescents, she then took on a role as a school-based program coordinator and clinician, as the head supervisor for Hope Health Systems in Maryland. In that role, Laurie provided management for 65 clinicians in the school based mental health program, including 8 team supervisors with locations throughout Baltimore County, Baltimore City, and Charles County. Next, she worked in Baltimore for Behavioral health Systems (BHS), where she was the rehabilitation and treatment coordinator for children and adolescents, providing program management and oversight the public mental health and substance use providers throughout Baltimore City. For the last seven years, Laurie worked for The Renfrew Center, a leading provider nationwide of eating disorder treatment services. As the Regional Vice President, Site Director for The Renfrew Center, she oversaw and managed the implementation and ongoing management for all components of The Renfrew Center sites in Baltimore, Bethesda, and the Renfrew @ Home Northwest (virtual program.)

“Laurie will be an invaluable addition to our clinical team and the overall MARC staff,” said Sam Bierman, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Maryland Addiction Recovery Center. “With her years of experience in leadership roles within the behavioral healthcare field, we are excited to see how she can enhance our clinical services and support our clinical team in continuing to develop their skillset in a manner that keeps MARC as a leading substance use and co-occurring mental health treatment center nationwide.”

It is both her experience in behavioral healthcare leadership and supervisory roles and her extensive experience clinically supporting specialized populations that make Laurie uniquely qualified to join the Maryland Addiction Recovery Center management team and lead the MARC clinical team as our new Clinical Director. In this role, she will work closely with MARC’s Executive Director, Medical Director, Director of Compliance and the rest of the MARC leadership team to ensure that the organization continues to deliver the high-quality, comprehensive treatment that MARC has been known for since the organization’s inception. Additionally, Laurie will be able to use her experience to continue to growth and enhance MARC’s treatment approach and services in order to provide best-in-class care for individuals and families suffering from addiction, substance use disorders, and co-occurring mental health disorders.

“I am excited to join the MARC team,” explained Laurie. “As the new Clinical Director at MAC, I look forward to contributing my skills and expertise to build upon the excellent work MARC already is doing with patients, families, and within the community.”
