Trina Lion is a Primary Therapist at Maryland Addiction Recovery Center. She has extensive experience working with trauma, substance use, gender, and relationship issues in an variety of treatment settings including behavioral health clinics and hospitals. Trina approaches mental and physical health through skill-building, guiding patients to clarify values, improve self-care, and develop sustainable and meaningful lives.
A versatile clinician, Trina has led mindfulness, movement, therapeutic writing, expressive visual art, and wellness classes. She strongly feels clients have the innate capacity for insight and wisdom. She utilizes an array of evidence-based treatments including Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). She is also an acupuncturist, having studied and trained for ten years in Shanghai, China, before returning to her native Baltimore to practice, lecture, and write. This led her back to pursue her current clinical career as a social worker, where she works to offer a blend of Eastern and Western mental health care.
A Baltimore native, Trina enjoys gardening, baking, and hiking with friends and family. She welcomes a bit of creativity (including creative problem-solving) and humor as part of the healing process.
