Erica Thomas is a Primary Therapist at Maryland Addiction Recovery Center. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a concentration in Human Development from Roanoke College. She completed her postgraduate studies at Loyola University, earning her master’s degree in clinical psychology. Erica’s professional background includes work in outpatient community substance abuse treatment programs as well as psychoeducation testing at Loyola University’s Clinical Centers. Notably, Erica has completed trainings through House of Ruth and Maryland’s Network Against Domestic Violence, which she utilized previously when working with individuals presenting for treatment of substance abuse and intimate partner violence.
Erica’s therapeutic approach is grounded in trauma-informed care and draws on attachment theory, IFS-informed parts work, and an exploration of family-of-origin and developmental trauma. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), which she uses to help clients reprocess traumatic experiences and develop new, adaptive beliefs that support healing and long-term recovery. Her style is warm, empowering, and collaborative, while also thoughtfully challenging clients to release patterns and beliefs that have been holding them back. Erica is committed to creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel understood and empowered as they work toward meaningful and lasting change.
In her spare time, Erica enjoys weightlifting, cooking, cuddling her dog, and spending time with her daughter and husband.
