Amanda Steinhorn is the Director of Mental Health Services at MARC. She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), a board approved LGPC supervisor, and a Board Certified and Registered Art Therapist (ATR-BC.)
Amanda uses a holistic, trauma-informed approach to explore the core issues and resolve the underlying challenges of her clients’ mental health and emotional well-being. Grounded in an attachment-based framework, she creates a safe and supportive space for individuals and families struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, substance use disorders, attachment issues, and major life transitions, helping them break free from unhelpful patterns and foster lasting change. Amanda specializes in working with individuals facing anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment issues, ADHD, substance use disorders, addiction, abandonment, life stressors, and major transitions. Her work is rooted in a trauma-informed and attachment-based approach, and she is trained in EMDR, has advanced training toward becoming a Certified Trauma Therapist®, and holds an Advanced Trauma Treatment – Level 1 certification through The Ferentz Institute.
Amanda dedicated a decade of her career as a primary therapist at the Kennedy Krieger School, providing clinical counseling services to elementary-aged students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Anxiety Disorder. She provided individual and group therapy, clinical case management, coordination of care between the school and outside providers, and served as a liaison between parents and school professionals. Additionally, she played an active role in interdisciplinary collaboration, leading multidisciplinary team meetings and contributing to school committees.
After her time at Kennedy Krieger, Amanda transitioned into private practice, founding Amanda Steinhorn, LLC. She utilizes a holistic, trauma-informed approach to foster deep emotional healing, helping individuals and families uncover the root causes of struggles, self-doubt, and limiting beliefs. She supports clients in developing healthy, sustainable coping mechanisms, embracing their authentic selves, and building meaningful, fulfilling lives.
In her role as Director of Mental Health Services at MARC, she provides ongoing clinical insight and support for patients dealing with mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders, as well as stays on top of the latest evidence-based therapeutic modalities and trainings to ensure that MARC stays innovative in our approach to patient care. Amanda planned, developed and provides direct clinical care for MARC’s mental health intensive outpatient (IOP) program, working alongside of psychiatrists and clinicians on our clinical team.
