Callie Hentz is a Primary Therapist at Maryland Addiction Recovery Center. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Callie has had a long-standing passion to help people in any capacity. She attended Salisbury University, graduating with her Bachelor of Social Work in 2018 and with her master’s degree in social work in 2022. During her master’s program, she was awarded a fellowship in the Substance Use Disorder Workforce Expansion Program, allowing her to dive deeper into substance use disorder treatment and meet and learn from like-minded professionals and teachers who shared the same passion for treating patients with addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders.
Before becoming a clinician and working at MARC, Callie had an extensive history working in addiction treatment, working in and eventually managing an admissions department for a residential treatment center for close to a decade. During this experience, she was able to work with and support individuals and families in crisis, better understand what patients and family members needed before entering rehab, from the very first day of treatment, and see them through graduation of that inpatient treatment program. Her approach to clinical work is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves a chance to heal and that she is honored to be part of that journey for each patient. Callie utilizes an eclectic style that incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and a strengths-based perspective. She believes that addiction is a family disease and that treating and supporting an identified patient’s family members is just as important as treating the identified patient.
Outside of work, Callie enjoys spending time with her fiancé, baking, her two dogs, min-Berne doodle Murphy and goldendoodle Jackson, on long walks.
